Where are we?

Villa Shalom is located in Belmont at the corner of Pelham Street and Reid Lane. Belmont is north-east of Port of Spain and was the city’s first suburb.  It is known for its cultural heritage since it is the birthplace and early home of many important Carnival designers and bands.  It is the home of approximately ten (10) Panyards including: Trinidad Casablanca, Pandemonium, Super Sonics, BP Renegades and many others.

Villa Shalom is located about ten (10) minutes walking distance from the Queen’s park Savannah, one of the world’s largest roundabouts which is also north of downtown Port of Spain.

On the northern side of the “Savannah” (as it is called), directly opposite, are the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Emperor Valley Zoo, the President’s and the Prime Minister’s Residence.

On the southern side of the Savannah is the main venue for Carnival and the National Academy for the Performing Arts.  Directly Opposite is the Memorial Park and The National Museum.

On the Eastern side of the Savannah are two major banks, i.e., Citi Bank and First Citizens Bank Ltd.  On the Western side of the Savannah is the Performing Arts Center and the Magnificent Seven (7).

For the sporting enthusiast, the Queen's Park Savannah is not only a place of culture but it is also a place where people can go to run, walk and exercise or play sport such as football, rugby or cricket.

Within walking distance (about 15 minutes) is the recently refurbished Queen’s Park Oval, the major location for cricket in the West Indies.
